What
does a Massage Treatment
involve?
On your initial appointment
a confidential health history
will be taken and reviewed.
Your current concerns will
be discussed. A treatment
plan based on your needs
and goals will be determined.
During your treatment you
may remove as little or
as much clothing as you
are comfortable with. You
will be fully draped with
a provided sheet and blanket
during the entirety of your
treatment, with the exception
of the area being treated,
which will be uncovered.
You will be instructed on
how to safely position yourself
on the table. Throughout
the treatment you will be
in complete control of the
process with the right to
redirect or stop the treatment
for any reason at any time.
At the beginning and completion
of your treatment you will
be left alone and given
ample time to undress and
redress.
How do I choose what's
right for me?
On your initial appointment
you will discuss varying
techniques and how they
may aid your movement
towards optimal health
and self care.
Is there anything I need
to do to prepare for my
appointment?
Come to your appointment
with a relatively empty
stomach. During your massage,
blood normally involved
in digestion will be drawn
to the areas being massaged.
If you have had a large
meal you may feel uncomfortable
and suffer poor digestion.
Also, it is a good idea
to visit the washroom
just prior to your appointment.
What do I wear?
Massage is a therapeutic
and healing practice.
You will want to be comfortable
and relaxed. You may wear
as much or as little as
you feel comfortable IN.
During a massage you will
be completely covered
except for your head and
the area being massaged
What kind of pressure
is applied during a massage?
You can experience gentle
relaxation treatments
or deep therapeutic treatments.
Feel free to request more
or less pressure throughout
your appointment.
Do I have to talk
during my massage?
No, you are here to relax
and it is suggested you
take some down time for
yourself to absorb the
full benefits of your
treatment. If you do feel
like chatting throughout
you are most welcome.
How will I feel
after my massage?
You will feel very relaxed.
Some people experience
freedom from long-term
aches and pains. After
the initial period of
feeling slowed down and
possibly tender, you will
most likely experience
increased energy, heightened
awareness, greater productivity,
and increased range of
motion. It is recommended
not to schedule any strenuous
activity just following
your massage.
After my massage,
is there anything I special
I need to do?
Certain stretches and/or
strengthening techniques
may be recommended that
will help your treatment
progress. Drink plenty
of water. Massage therapy
releases toxins from your
soft tissue and drinking
lots of water will help
flush them from your body.
Can I claim my
massage under my insurance
coverage?
Certain extended health
care benefits include
massage therapy. Often
a doctor’s prescription
is required. Receipts
will be issued with a
GST and a registration
number, which are required
for reimbursement from
your insurance company.
What should I do if I
need to cancel my appointment?
There is a 24-hour cancellation
policy on all services.
Please call as soon as
possible when you are
aware that you can't make
your appointment. If you
do not provide 24 hours
notice you will be charged
a cancellation fee/rescheduling
fee of $30.00 and/or your
Gift Certificate will
be void. .
